Windows Vista Command Prompt: Access Is Denied?

Postby Chap » Sat Sep 23, 2017 3:46 pm

It looks like you're trying to change to drive g:?

Just type G: at the command prompt

Also, unlike unix, windows uses a \ character as path seperator, not /

The way you typed the command means something else. Windows is trying to create a file in the c:\Windows directory and that's why you get the "access is denied" error.

It has nothing to do with using an elevated command prompt or not - your syntax is simply wrong.

You need to open up an 'elevated' Command Prompt by right clicking on the Command Prompt and select 'run as admin'.
