Which Denon amplifier, AVC-A11SR (9.1) or AVR 1910 (7.1)?

Postby chenche43 » Thu Jul 26, 2012 2:14 pm

I'm looking to purchase a new Denon amplifier for a hi-fi home audio system. I've narrowed down my search (and findings) to two choices: the Denon AVC-A11SR (9.1) and the Denon AVR 1910 (7.1) ...at first glance, and especially from looking at the physical hardware, the AVC looks to be the better contender, but its lack of popularity on the web compared to the AVR indicates that it may have been a flop...

There are plenty of audiophiles out there, far beyond myself, so I'm asking your opinion. Both are priced quite similarly (second-hand). I'll be extending the hi-fi with either 5.1 or 7.1 surround, and definitely prefer a solid bass. The system will most often see home cinema, gaming and vinyl music usage - I'll be looking for the crispest sound with a large frequency range.

Obviously, there would be many other (more expensive) ways of achieving this, but I have a budget for the amplifier. Definitely only interested in a Denon, as I'm brand-loyal, and Denon products have always amazed me above others.

Let me know what you think, and thanks in advance!

The advantage that the AVR 1910 has over the AVC A11 is that the 1910 is a newer model with more advanced features and technology, the 1910 has HDMI connections the AVC A11 does not also the 1910 can decode true HD and HD master soundtracks the AVC model cannot...if you plan to use blu ray anytime in the future the AVR 1910 would be the superior product....and give you better sound through an HDMI cable....
