take out the "prefer both" from those preferring windows xp

= 65-20 = 45%

total no.of customers who prefer window xp=65%

number of customers who prefer window xp and vista both=20%

number of customers who prefer only window xp=(65-20)%

=45%

45% customers prefer window xp and not vista

P(XP)=0.65

P(vista)=0.35

P(XP and vista)=0.2

p(XP and not vista)=p(xp intersection vista')=P(xp)-p(xp intersection vista)=0.45

hence 45%

that is,,

65-20=45%
