Internet Explorer?

Hi,

I would use windows explorer to find the location of explorer.exe then create a new icon.

Yes you can delete just the old icon safely.

It sounds like the restore has mucked up the path to explorer.

The other way is to right click on the explorer icon, go to properties and change the path to the correct location for explorer.

If you can get onto the net at all with the laptop you could re-download and install explorer.

look under program files.

C\Program Files\Internet Explorer\

or

C\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\

possibly if you're on a 64-bit system.

then right-click iexplore.exe, click "create shortcut".
it will either put the shortcut there, from where you can move it to the desktop, or it will complain that "windows cannot create a shortcut here.
do you want the shortcut to be placed on your desktop instead?" in which case you click yes.
this differs depending on what operating system you have (I'm thinking of XP and Vista here)

It's time to start thinking about using Firefox.

Look in Windows explorer for the ie exe: C:/Program Files/Internet Explorer/iexplore

Then create a shortcut for that.
