firstly there is no such thing as turnig off the white balance, it is a thing, but auto white balance can be turned off, you want to lower the iso, raise the apeture, or raise the shutter speed, if it is on auto and this happens ( the over exposedness), your auto doesn't work or there is a problem with your lense, maybe cracked letting in too much light

The XSi is a first-class beginner digicam. It has several automatic modes. You should use these even as studying to make use of the guide settings. Don't suppose that just given that you get an SLR your pics are going to be professional watching. You're going to must be trained how to use it. I propose that you just sign up for a category when you purchase the camera. Realizing easy methods to use your camera and knowing the fundamentals of pictures will make stronger your graphics. The camera you employ wont. Blurry pictures are triggered through digital camera shake or to gradual of a shutter speed. For action shots you're going to desire a shutter speed of at the least 1/250th of a 2nd. Anything under 1/sixtieth of a second and you cannot hand maintain the digital camera consistent adequate not to get blurry shots. Shutter lag is probably not an dilemma with any SLR so that you wont have this predicament.

That's over exposure & nothing to do with white balance (which is to do with the 'color cast' of the light & cannot be 'turned off').

Over exposure means too much light is getting in.

If you are in manual then turn down the ISO (to 100 or so), close the aperture (to f16 or f11) and increase the shutter speed (to around 1/125 or 1/250).

Otherwise, just put it in auto & shoot.

Your photos are overexposed, which has nothing to do with white balance. Put the camera in green box auto mode and take your shot... if it still comes out all white, you have issues with the camera that need to be addressed by Canon service. If the picture comes out normally, and it should, it means you had incorrect settings for exposure.

The camera comes with a manual for a reason...

Your problem isn't the white balance, but reflections.
There are a number of ways to get around this, but finding out how for yourself will make you a better photographer.
