How To Create Partition From Unallocated Space.?

Postby iona53 » Fri Oct 06, 2017 5:18 pm

I've faced that issue before, here's how i solved it:

1- go to ubuntu.com

2- download ubuntu (doesn't matter which version)

3- get unetbootin (unetbootin.sourceforge.net)

4- have a flash disk plugged in (at least 1GB)

5- run unetbootin, select ISO, and browse to the ubuntu image you downloaded

6- at the bottom of the screen, select your flash disk (make sure it's empty, and this will erase everything on the flash disk)

7- click next, unetbootin will install ubuntu on the flash disk

8- restart your computer and boot from the flash disk

9- in ubuntu, click the ubuntu logo at the top left, and type 'gparted'

10- run the partition manager

11- point to your disk's unallocated space and delete the partition (gparted doesn't have the same restrictions as windows partition managers)

12- you can create a new partition from within gparted, or leave the space unallocated and create the partition from windows

there are programs that can do a partition for you I don't remember what there called but they are easy to find.

if you are using windows to change a partition using just what they offer you will have to format the disk
