How can I connect my HP Pavilion g7-1075dx Notebook PC to my HDTV without a DVI-to-HDMI adapter?

Postby landis » Fri Aug 03, 2012 1:52 am

I'm in a pickle.

I would like to view my laptop's screen on my HDTV (it's a Vizio 1080P HDTV) but I have a DVI cable when my laptop has an HDMI plug-in. The back of my TV has two HDMI sockets and one DVI socket.

I know there are DVI-to-HDMI adapters online that I can purchase, or probably at the Wal-Mart, etc., but I'm trying to find an easy way to do this.

I believe I have an S cable kicking around which I heard could also work - is this a bad idea or how is it different from using the HDMI cable?

PLEASE HELP! Best answer WILL receive 10 points!

Thanks.
