How to boost wifi signal for Linksys E1200?

Postby dalziel » Wed Aug 22, 2012 8:57 am

I have a PS3 in the basement that I'd like to be able to connect to the wireless network in my house. The router is in the middle floor in the office. Unfortunately, moving it is not an option. It's also not an option to run ethernet to the basement. I have a Cisco Linksys E1200 router for my Cox Motorola modem. Neither has an antennae, so building a DIY antennae extender won't work either. To be clear, my PS3 can see the network, but with a signal strength of 55%, I can't do much in the way of streaming video. I've messed with the router setting to the best of my abilities. Is there anything else I can do, short of buying a range extender?

Considering what you said it has no antenna.
It is in the basement.

Do this.
Take a nice piece of aluminum foil.
Place it under the router.
