Help Solving Algebra 2 Problem?!?

The design of a digital box camera maximizes the volume while keeping the sum of the dimensions at 6 inches. If the length must be 1.5 times the height, what should each dimension be?

V = L X W X H

L = 1.5h

1.5h + h + w = 6

2.5h + w = 6; w = 6 - 2.5h

V = (1.5x)(x)(6-2.5x)

V = 9x^2-3.75x^3

now i stumped.. how do i find the rest of the answer?

You were doing fine...just maximize the volume wrt "h" by setting the derivative to zero:

dV/dh = 18h - 3(3.75)h^2 = 0 => h=0 is discarded as a minimum leaving

h = 1.6

Check L = 1.5h = 2.4

W = 6 - 2.5h = 2, these sum to 6.

Solve for h by plugging in (6 - 2.5h) in for w:

1.5h + h + (6 - 2.5h) = 6

Then use that to find the rest.
