Desktop Computer Wont Recognize Hard Drive ?

Postby Tyesone » Thu Oct 19, 2017 1:38 am

I had Windows 7 installed on MY Desktop, everything worked fine.

My brothers computer died and wanted to get his files back.

I plugged his hard drive with windows Vista into my Desktop.

I changed Boot menu to his hard drive and got the files he needed.

I removed his hard drive and restarted PC and set Boot menu back to my hard drive.

Now it says "The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible" screen

other info:

I tried Bios menu and it recognizes the drive but still unable to boot W7

my hard drive is IDE

brothers is SAT

What should I do and what are my options?

thanks

Plug the old one back in its probably still set to boot from that one then change the setting to boot ur hard drive.
Also you might check the physical hard drive sometimes there are jumpers you have to set on old ones.
