Computer Drastically Slowed Down?

Postby Auriville » Sat Oct 14, 2017 11:26 am

I was just doing my regular computer stuff one day when I noticed that my internet was acting up. This happened pretty often and I assumed that it was a router problem again so I just restarted my computer (because that usually fixes it). Once it rebooted, it took like 2 minutes for it to get past the welcome screen and another 10 to even load up the start menu and my desktop. All of my programs start up very slowly, and some (like Thunderbird) just crash after a few seconds (after starting up for 5 minutes). So far I've tried:

-Restarting my computer (a crap load of times)

-Registry defrag

-Registry cleaning

-Virus scan

-All of the above in safe mode

What gets really me is that it happened instantly. I would think that if this is a problem with registry or something then it would happen gradually, not over the span of an hour. Also, I haven't installed or even downloaded anything before the problem or since, so it wasn't a virus. Any advice? I really don't want to have to restore my windows.
