Can I Carry 1080p Over Coax?

Postby Cliff » Sat Oct 14, 2017 2:29 am

I have HD receiver from U-Verse connected to my Samsung HD 1080p TV over HDMI.
My All this is in my family room.
In my closet I have the main U-Verse unit which is then wired to my HD receiver in family room over coax (wiring behind sheet rock done when house was built).
I would like to move my HD receiver to the closet.
To do that I would then wire my HD receiver (then in closet) to my HD TV (in family room) over coax since that's how it is wired in the home.

Would I lose HD 1080p aspects if I connect output of HD receiver to HDTV over coax? If yes, would having a cox->HDMI adapter in my family room which then converts to HDMI before connecting to TV help? I think not since if coax were to lose 1080p then connecting HDMI to front-end won't bring 1080p back.

Can someone guide? I see conflicting answers on the forum.
