You can't upgrade your windows vista 32 bit to windows 7, 64 bit. You could only upgrade to Windows 7, 32 bit, since you have a 32 bit version.

The only way you would be able to install Windows 7, 64 bit version, is to format your hard drive and install Windows 7, 64 bit clean install from the disc. You would have to back up all your files before you do any of this.

you would need to install a 64 bit version of windows by buying an upgrade or retail/oem copy of windows.

just google 'windows update advisor' and see if all your hardware/software are compatable with windows 7 and which versions.

you will gain a slight performance increase from a 64bit operating system, along with the larger memory utilization. but if your not going to be using more than 4GB or RAM, i would wait a while if you can untill windows 8 comes out and 7 should get much cheaper.
